Tip of the Day: Finally, Sharp Self-Portraits!

Untitled6
Shooting self-portraits is a great way to experiment with different photographic techniques, the model doesn't complain, works for free, and there's no need for a model release. The problem is that it's difficult to get your camera to focus properly on your eyes.

Meejahor recently posted excellent method of forcing the camera to focus right where you want it to. Just darken the room that you're in and hold a small flashlight next to your eye, the camera then picks up the only area of contrast and locks on. Boom! Perfectly crisp focus right on the pupil where you want it. There’s some other good self-portrait tips in the post as well, like how he got that nice white background.
