Your Photo: Our Critique

Blowingflower
Blowing Flower submitted by Derek Dysart
Honestly, I really like this picture. It’s a calm quiet moment that the photographer captured of his son.  The exposure, composition, and subject matter all work well together. I’m glad he decided to put the boy in the right side of the frame instead of the middle as well put the horizon line in the top frame. The fact that part of the boy is cropped out makes a more focused and thought out photograph.

Comments

Thanks for the comments. I was actually hoping for something to improve upon, but will kindly take the nice words as well.

Hi Derek,
I think critiquing is about giving ideas to improve on otherwise is just talking for the sake of it and who says one opinion is better than another? right?
So here's my advice: try taking the photo again, once getting really close where you see only the left side of your kid's face and the flower (yeah I know it's not a flower, but I forgot its name), both filling the frame; another shot where you see more, including the whole hand holding the flower, see if you can do that standing on higher ground and getting rid of the sky.
