Your Photo: Our Critique

Untitled1
Dani submitted this image taken with Nikon D40, at 1/250 sec.  at f/5, ISO 200.  It appears Dani used a flash but it has not overpowered the image at all in fact it has accentuated the eyes and brought out detail in the child's face.  This image catches your eye, Dani has done a great job of not placing her subject in the middle of the frame, the tiles add a frame within the image.  A simple and straight forward image that catches your eye. The eyes make the image.  I would like to see the rest of the ear on the right of the frame but that is being a little picky.

I have a D40 and I HATE the built in flash on the thing. I hardly ever use it. However, if I could figure out how to use the flash like this, maybe I would take better photos.

PS: I'm happy to see somebody besides Linzee doing this critique. Thank you.
