Tip of the Day: Prevent red eye

Sometimes you have no choice but to use a flash-- here are some tips to prevent red eyes in your photos, especially when using point-and-shoots.

• Have your subject look directly at a light source before the picture is taken-- constricting the pupils will help reduce red eye.

• Have your subject look slightly to the left or right instead of straight into the lens.

• Use an external flash mounted on a bracket to change the angle of reflection from the retina.
