Your Photo: Our Critique
Maida O'Donnell submitted this image taken with a Nikon D40, with an exposure of 1/2500sec at f/4.5, ISO 200. She did a nice job exposing for her face, despite it being turned away from the light. Profiles are often overlooked but are a wonderful way to capture someone. The shadow adds to the image. By going black and white, this photo takes on a timeless feel. Including the buildings in the background gives you some context as to where it was taken. Placing her on the left of the frame allows her line of sight to move through the image. The tide, the shadow and the subject create a nice visual triangle. Too bad the tide didn’t hit the edge of the frame a little lower on the right side.

I like this picture a lot!! Just one thought, I don't like very much that the buildings are beside the face, they make some noise to me. But this is a great photo!

I don't know but the buildings in the back are very distracting and make it just an ordinary shot.
Funny this blog used to give appropriate reviews down to two stars and everybody was complaining but these days almost every pic is four stars with lots of praise and almost no critique. Doesn't make sense either.
