Olympus EP-1: Hands-On Video

Some Pop editors recently had the chance to spend some serious quality time with the compact new Micro Four Thirds rig from Olympus. Check out some of the more interesting aspects and get a view of New York City's Coney Island in the summer. Just be warned, watching the video will give you a serious craving to go out shooting and eat a Nathan's hot dog. Take the jump for a few sample images.

whensly

kind of odd to review or introduce a camera via it's video.

I wish they brought along a pro photog who could have
taken some compelling or challenging pictures. The ones in this piece make Coney look flat, shot at the wrong time of day etc.

- they might have discussed the glass used for this demo too
perhaps used a prime (fixed lens) too and let us see examples.

just some suggestions I think about EVERY time I see one of these demo's I wait for.

This demo does not make me want to run out and buy the
Olympus makes me want to read or see a better demo

Re using the camera at Coney with a non professional may have been done on purpose. The pix looks OK, but the idea is to show the camera and what it could do under less than ideal conditions perhaps.
It certainly did that. Its a camera to rave about as its ideal for what its been designed for. But as far as a compact goes, the interchangeable lenses would slot it somewhere in between compact and DSLR, which would suit me quite well. I am a potential customer. Which makes me rather sad as it appears my E510 may be replaced by this. But time will tell...

Just an FYI for the PopPhoto boys and girls, the camera model is actually "E-P1", not "EP-1".
