New Gear: Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner
You don't need to be a die-hard film user to appreciate a good photo scanner. Epson's newest model is aimed at the mid-level user, capable of handling prints, documents, film and slides. With a maximum resolution of 6400 x 9600, it comes with a variety of utilities designed to fix your messed up source material, including DIGITAL ICE to remove dust, scratches and tears as well as their Easy Photo Fix tech that might help keep some beginners from getting frustrated. The slide adapter fits 35mm film as well as medium format film all the way up to 6 x 22. Because it uses LEDs instead of cold cathode fluorescent lamps, it's faster and more environmentally friendly, too. Look for it in mid-October when it'll be on shelves for $249, which includes a full copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Can the internal surface of the glass be cleaned?
